National Library South Africa aquires VERSASCAN 36100

The National Libaray of South Africa was looking for a gentle and protective way to digitize their historical map collection at very high quality and decided to go with the SMA VERSASCAN 36100. In order to offer maximum ergonomics at the workplace they chose the model with motorized height adjustment. The operating height of the scanner can be adjusted at the push of a button. This feature optimizes the working position based on the users comfort level – in either the seated or standing position.

The VATIKAN is breaking new ground – with SMA!

Digitizing books is a common process in today’s world. But many users are concerned about the safety aspect of it. Cloud storage is in everybody’s mind but also leaves uncertainties – in particular when you own unique content of special value and must ensure that ownership rights will not be violated. SMA joint forces and became technology partner in this project where a revolutionary concept of archiving digital information was implemented. This new approach makes sure that every scan is safe. Once scanned, the images can neither be copied nor altered or deleted. This new vision is a game changer and has the potential to change our industry! Finally digital archiving is safe!

We are truely excited to be part of this unique project which utilzes the blockchain as storage. The VATIKAN uses a SCAN MASTER 1 for digitizing their very old and valuable books. This well proven SMA book scanner is being used seven days a week, two shifts a day. Therefore it was very important for the VATIKAN not only to buy a high quality book scanner but also a robust and reliable one.

Central State Archive of Kazakhstan buys VERSASCAN 36100 & SCAN MASTER 0 3650

For digitizing their extremely large technical drawings the Central State Archive of Kazakhstan was looking for a suitable scanner. As it is not possible to process the documents with a sheet feed approach the only qualified option was a flatbed scanner. With the VERSASCAN 36100 they found the ideal solution. High definition scans of their originals up to 2 meters can now be produced gentle and true to scale.

A different department of the Central State Archive of Kazakstan bought at about the same time a SCAN MASTER 0 3650 to digitize their bound originals at the same high quality.

City Archive Wiesbaden opts for SMA Technology

The City Archive of Wiesbaden (Hessen) is now a proud owner of a SMA SCAN MASTER 1 book scanner. The customer is happy to be able to digitize his collection of books, certificates and seals in outstanding quality. The visual 3D feature (V3D) of SMA scanners allows in particular structured surfaces such a seals to appear exeptionally realistic.

Geoinformation and Land Surveying Office Saxony chooses simply the best!

The Geoinformation and Land Surveying Office Saxony decided to purchase a SMA SCAN MASTER 0 4838 in order to be prepared for the future. Regarding the background: Since the year 2002 a large format flatbed scanner (with 400 dpi resolution) had been deployed. Due to the increasing demand for more accuracy in the area of 0. 2 mm – every needle punch in the maps have to be visible in the scan – another scanner was added in 2006 (this time with 600 dpi resolution). When in 2020 both scanners started to become outdated the decison was made to aquire a new scanner that can keep up with the rather high internal standard. Almost no scanner in the market is able to meet the requirements so finally the choice was made to go with SMA. The SCAN MASTER 0 4838 is not only equiped with state of the art technology but also comes with a very high scanning resolution of 1200 dpi over the entire scanning range. Further the scanner is capable of scanning rather large originals and due to its integrated book cradle it can also handle bound originals without any problems. Another unique feature of the SCAN MASTER 0 4838 is its V3D technology which allows to reproduce structured surfaces true to the original.

National Library Belarus chooses SCAN MASTER 0 4838

The National Library Belarus intents to digitize their entire books, magazines, posters and maps. Once everything is digital the contect will be made availabe to the public. The scanner candidate had to be able to scan at a very high physical resolution and capable of handling bound and unbound originals in a very large size. The decison was made to purchase a SMA SCAN MASTER 0 4838. We are proud to be part of this project.

Moravian Library Brno decides for SCAN MASTER 0 3650 with Book Spine Assist

The Moravian Library in Brno is the second largest library in the Czech Republic. For digitizing their content including problematic books a high resolution large format book scanners was required. They chose the SCAN MASTER 0 3650 with Book Spine Assist feature. It allows to scan books with either a very instabile or a very tough book fold. The additional lifting column supports the center of the book during the scanning process. SMA is the only vendor in the market that offers such a feature.

Myanmar invests in robotic book scanning

A government entity in Myanmar that we are not allowed to name in detail was looking for a highly productive solution to digitize their archive. They bought two ROBO SCAN V2. The books are being digitized robotically and gentle in a v-shaped position. Very problematic and fragile books can be scanned manually by simply disabling the robotic function. At the tip of your fingers the ROBO SCAN V2 can be utilized as a manual book scanner.

DIAMO extends their SMA portfolio with VERSASCAN 4870

The state enterprise DIAMO is an organisation dealing with eliminating the consequences of uranium, ore and coal mining activities in the Czech Republic. Their archives contains a huge collection of mining maps which exceed standard sizes. For digitizing those oversize maps the only sensible choice was the SMA VERSASCAN 4870. With its large scanning bed of double A0 it allows to scan most of their originals in one single step. In total they own now three SMA flatbed scanners.
